How to get into advertising
Many of you will be in the middle of the 2005/2006 grad recruitment rounds. Throw in here any questions you want to ask regarding applications, interviews and whether it’s rude to slag off the agency’s work…..which it is until you get the job.

Is it possible to get into agencies other than the grad recruitment round?

Yes it is. I know two who were in the same interviews as me and didn’t make it through the grad recruitment rounds only to be called back 2 months later and asked if they would join as account execs.
Furthermore, I know a couple of people who hounded agencies that didn’t offer grad training schemes and managed to get in via this route.
Some of you may not get in through these Xmas/Jan rounds but there are other ways to get on to a grad scheme.
Saatchi & Saatchi offer a summer scheme which they take usually 2 for their grad training and Publicis will be doing the same. Give them a call or look at their websites in order to find out more:

The applications will be out in the New Year so don’t panic of you don’t get through in the first set of traditional recruitment methods.
Failing that you’ll need to get in touch with recruitment agencies that specialise in Ad Agencies and you can get into agencies that way. Hope this helps.
