Bosses in the Healthcare Industry
What kind of boss are you working for right now? I’ve worked in the healthcare field all my life and have had all sorts of bosses. One was never around, not even on my last day at work. Another boss gave a few too many hugs if you know what I mean. Luckily, most of my bosses have been tolerable if not great. None have behaved as atrociously as the ones profiled in the September/October issue of Psychology Today.
Jann Wenner
The Rolling Stone magazine founder ate raw onions and slugged vodka from the bottle in mid-conversation.
Top Executive at the New York Post
Stepped aside during meetings to urinate in a corner sink.
Partner in a Political Lobbying Firm
Farted loudly during staff meetings. “It is the underlings’ place to endure the scent of the alpha….”
John Bolton
The United Nations ambassador once chased a woman down the hallway and hurled a tape dispenser at her.
If you’re a boss, you might want to rethink your behavior in the workplace. Richard Conniff’s, author of The Ape in the Corner Office, suggests:
One way for an alpha boss to maintain vigilance is to cultivate a close relationship with relatively low-ranking individuals, because people with less power typically see the world more clearly than do their bosses. …A wise boss thus learns, at the very least to respect and depend on an executive assistant.
