Volunteer or not to volunteer? That is the question.

The answer? For most people, completing post secondary education in Television or Film is the time when you think you are ready to produce the next great tv show or movie. For some of us a great job is found right away but for most of us this is just the start to a lot of free work before you get the job you want.

My advice if you are having a hard time finding work in this industry is to get a list of places you really want to work at and ask them if they have any off hours work or volunteering available. Most places do not turn down free labour and if they do take advantage of you, well you have to see it as a chance to improve your skills and go elsewhere. Free work or volunteering your time is a better path to your eventual goal than sitting at home and watching the very TV shows you want to be working on.
