Ok, so it might be a stupid question to some people – but to me it’s important. Is the internet and all that resides thereon (or therein or whatever) up to date?

The answer is yes – and no.

Yes, all the major websites are up to date – especially the news sites, the government sites and (some of) the business sites. But the rest…..?

The rest of the internet and the up to date nature of its content is sometimes open to question. No one ever, ever seems to remove anything from the net and yet more stuff is added to it every single day.

All this old stuff is confusing and time consuming cos you’ve got to check, as best you can, the age of anything before you get deeper into it. One blog I’ve recently looked at (and quite interesting it was too) was last updated in September 2004 so I won’t be going back – but it did have potential!

Perhaps stuff on the net should have a built in self destruct line written into the code so that if noone resets the code within say 6 months of publication (at the very latest) then the website or information disappears forever instead of just lying out there somewhere waiting to trap some unwary surfer into thinking its as up to date as todays newspaper.

Or maybe websites should have an automatic self destruct if the site doesn’t register more than say 10 visitors per year.

As for blogs like this then new topical posts should be written every day – this site and it’s network is bang up to date. Check the rest out!
