Healthcare Industry Doing Well in Phuket, Thailand

By Hsien-Hsien Lei on December 26 2005

Phuket, Thailand, was one of the areas affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami. The tourist industry has resumed but not without a drop in the number of visitors. Health tourism, however, has apparently been doing well.

The Irish Sunday Business Post reports:

Hospitals in Phuket came out of the disaster with flying colours and the efficient high-tech care given to tsunami victims has been widely reported.

Among the most outstanding was the Bangkok Hospital Phuket, which has recently opened a new wing, partly funded from Sweden.

This hospital, now equipped to handle up to 1,000 patients a day, possesses world-class skills in many branches of medicine and surgery.
