What’s next for wurk? I’m slowly expanding the core wurk blogs, and am building up a team of fantastic writers - who will certainly become a very loud voice in their industry when it comes to advice and information about jobs, work, and careers.
I’m also talking to a number of indie bloggers who are already writing some of the best career and jobhunting advice articles you’ll find anywhere on the web. Having them as part of the network brings a fantastic level of credibility to what I’m doing.
So, if you’re looking for reliable career advice, you now don’t need to search the entire internet - or wade through tons of spam to find it. It’s all right here at wurk, and there’s much more of the good stuff to come.
However, one area that I feel is massively underrepresented when it comes to online career advice and info is the ‘local’ jobhunting and recruiting scene.
So, in addition to building what I already have, wurk’s next steps will involve adding local blogs to the network. So, if you’re in, say, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK, and you want to stay up to date with the local job market, all you’ll need to do is check out newcastle.wurk.net. Or if you’re in Birmingham, you’d head to birmingham.wurk.net. Or london.wurk.net, or newyorkcity.wurk.net, or la.wurk.net, or sydney.wurk.net, or paris.wurk.net, or stockholm.wurk.net, or… or…or…
You get the picture. The potential for building a complete global picture of jobhunting and career intelligence is huge.
But what I need to do in order to make it work is build some partnerships with local recruiters across the globe who know their local recruitment environments inside out - and who’d like to be a wurk Local Content Editor.
So if you are a recruiter, and you’re interested in working with me on this, I’d love you to get in touch. What I’m proposing is the creation of a whole new set of core wurk blogs that are fully co-branded with both wurk’s and your agency’s branding. It’ll be a joint effort. I’ll provide the infrastructure. You’ll provide the local knowledge and insight.
What will you write? Essentially, you’ll be keeping the local population in the loop when it comes to new opportunities and new employers in your area. It’s NOT about posting jobs - there are plenty of job boards who already do that. Some well. Some not so well. This is about pointing people to cool local jobs that they otherwise might not have found. It’s about interviewing local people with interesting jobs. Or reviewing local places to spend your lunch hour. Or sharing tips on how to handle an interview at local company X. Or suggesting strategies on how to land a job at local company Y. Or offering some inside information on local company Z, who will soon be building a new head office in the middle of town. And a million other things. The possibilities really are endless.
Think about it. It’s super-valuable info for local people, and the kind of insight into the local jobs market that they’ve never, ever had access to before. It’ll be a fantastic resource for them. You’ll also find it useful, as it will raise your profile as a foward-thinking, community-minded local recruiter with an expert knowledge of your area. But more importantly, it might put a little more business your way.
Which, of course, is exactly what blogs are good for.
So, if you’re an independent recruiter, or you run a recruitment agency, and you’re interested in giving this a go, just get in touch with me at info@wurk.net.

It is. I’m absolutely convinced of it.
