Home Based Business Websites

030806.jpg Of course, I am a big advocate of websites for home-based businesses. They are so inexpensive these days that there really is no excuse not to have one. Even if you may not sell merchandise, a website is a great marketing tool. Think of it like an on-line brochure that tells potential clients who you are and what you do.

If you aren’t technically savvy, no worries, there are plenty of ways to educate yourself. No, you don’t have to become an Internet guru, but learning the basics is not as difficult as you may think. Plus, there are lots of tools available these days for the novice web master.

Here are a few tips for creating your first website:

  • Check locally for classes on web use and HTML. Public libraries and community colleges often offer free or at least inexpensive classes. I learned HTML basics by taking a $40 weekend class at a college. Then I bought a book, and I was good to go.
  • Browse around the web. Look for web designs that you like and think might work well with your business. Maybe even sketch out a few layout ideas.
  • Ask your friends and neighbors. Check around with people you know about web hosting companies. Many people these days can recommend or not recommend a few. Personally, I’ve been very happy with https://secure.directnic.com/ who host my www.tammypowley.com site.
