I checked out salaries for senior house officers, etc in the UK and they are about double that of the Canadian rates for residents! Must be a good union . . . Things are getting better here though. As compared to 5 years ago, there is less call, more time for parental leave, better on-call sleep facilities, and a good benefits package; these are all things that aren’t really reflected in the salaries.

Salaries have to be double here than in the U.S. or Canada because the cost of living is about double. I just moved to London in January and am constantly in sticker shock. LOL
