You don’t have to live in the major cities to get a job as an extra, but the closer you live, obviously makes it easier for you. I knew of a young woman who lived three hours out of Toronto, but she managed to get her face known to the right people. Don’t forget… the people in charge of extras couldn’t care less where you live as long as you show up when they need you. But, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Lets get your foot in the door first.

First off, you are going to have to know who to contact. Relax, there are lots of books on the topic that list the names of casting directors and agencies. If you watch the newspapers, you will often find agencies requesting new applicants. It’s pretty a case of getting your face in front of the right people.
The next step is to have head shots taken. Those are to be sent off to the agencies mentioned above.
